2021 OECD Forum for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains - Partners' Session on Child Labour in ASM
This webinar is organized by the International Labour Organization’s Child Labour Platform in partnership with Levin Sources and the U.S. Department of Labor and aims to answer the following question:
How can we foster greater multi-stakeholder collaboration to address child labour and working conditions in Artisanal and Small Mining (ASM)?

A critical condition for responsible supply chains of minerals is addressing child labour and working conditions in ASM. With COVID-19 deepening the vulnerability of mining communities, greater multi-stakeholder collaboration with increased information-sharing and bottom-up partnerships are urgently needed to tackle new child labour risks and scale up effective models. During this session, we will (1) highlight promising practices and lessons learned from selected initiatives; (2) learn how Governments, businesses and other actors are (implementing innovative responses?) to address child labour and working conditions in ASM around the world; and (3) propose ways to accelerate expand effective multi-stakeholder collaboration during the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour (2021) to reach SDG Target 8. 7 and promote decent work in the mining sector.
